We have extensive experience in producing and engineering music in a wide variety styles - from orchestral film scores, and chamber music records, to big bands, punk bands, and hip hop artists. In addition to music albums we have worked on Oscar winning film scores, video game scores, music documentaries, live television and radio broadcasts, etc... We have the know-how to make quality recordings and to work in a wide variety of production environments.
Over the years we have been watching production schedules shrink
while at the same time watching editors and mixers struggle with
constant and last minute changes. With today's tough deadlines one
of the hardest things is simply getting enough time with the
composer, director, or artist to create a satisfying final product.
To solve this problem we have built extremely portable laptop based
workstations running
Merging
Technologies Pyramix and V-Cube software, as well as
Digidesign's Pro-Tools. These systems use high quality audio
interfaces from Benchmark and
Prism Sound, can be set up in a matter of minutes, and yet
are powerful enough to mix and edit even the largest projects. We
have used these systems in mixing Howard Shore’s
scores for “The Aviator” and Webzen’s MMORPG “Soul of the Ultimate
Nation”, as well as in editing “The Lord of the Rings – The Complete
Recordings” box sets for both CD and DVD-A release.
We eliminate the hassle of studio visits to hear mixes and edits as
well as back and forth e.mail and phone calls requesting changes.
We'll bring the mix/edit to you making revisions on the spot without
compromising quality.
We work with you to establish the delivery and budget requirements for your project, and then assemble a production team specially selected to meet your needs. This can include everything from composers, arrangers, copyists, musicians to rental companies, studios, engineers, editors and more.
Whether we are producing a solo artist or an orchestral film score we choose the recording equipment and technique that will deliver the best artistic result - this is not the same for every situation, which is why you will not see a lot of talk about specific "gear" or studios on our pages.
When we are trying to capture all the subtleties in tone colour of a Stradivarius violin we may use microphones with a pristine frequency response extending beyond the limits of human hearing, and an equally high resolution preamplifier, leading to a workstation recording at 192kHz/24bit or higher.
On the other hand if we are recording a beatbox artist for a hip-hop track a classic SM58, or a Sennheiser 421 is a far better choice than any "hi-fi" solution.
To us it's all about using the right tools for the job. We approach each project with open minds and a desire to deliver a final product that not only sounds great on a technical level, but also delivers the right emotional impact to the consumer regardless of whether they are listening in a movie theater, in a car, on a home stereo, or on an mp3 player on the way to work.
